OpEx 570: Strategy of Application

An advanced topic course where participants apply cumulative learning, skills and tools from all previous OpEx courses using a simulated health care problem.

Course description

This course will equip participants in applying leadership and communication skills, utilizing Lean and Six Sigma tools. Learning will be facilitated through the use of self-paced e-learning using modules, videos and case studies. The focus of the course is application of tools using a simulated health care problem.

Who should take this course?

This course is for clinical and non-clinical professionals in health care looking to receive high-impact, non-degree training and skill development who are ready to complete the Series II Tools and Techniques Certificate.

Participants wishing to enroll in OpEx 570 Strategy of Application course should first complete the OpEx Series I: Health Care OpEx Essential Certificate and OpEx 530 and 540 courses in the Tools and Techniques Certificate.

 Course experience

Ready to apply what you have learned? Individuals who want to put all of their operational excellence learning into practice should enroll in this course. Learning will be facilitated using self-paced e-learning using modules, videos, and case studies. Former participants and Lean practitioners will share experience with tools to facilitate learning. The course is instructor led and virtual. Benefit from small interactive classes of participants from diverse backgrounds.

Learning outcomes
  • Participants will re-examine Lean and Six Sigma to gain deeper understanding of tools and skills
  • Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to apply A3 problem solving to a case study based on a real health care problem
  • Upon completion of the course, participants will demonstrate the ability to successfully complete a simulated A3 project
Prerequisites:

Participants wishing to enroll in OpEx 570 Strategy of Application course should first complete the OpEx Series I: Health Care OpEx Essential Certificate and the prerequisite courses OpEx 530 Essential Lean Concepts and OpEx 540 Fundamentals of Six Sigma in the Tools & Techniques Series.
