    How to Create a Personal Learning Plan

    1. Self Assessment

    Purpose: The first step in creating your PLP is to evaluate your current skills and competencies. This helps you understand your strengths and areas for improvement.

    Action Steps:

    • Complete the self-assessment section in the IDP template.
    • Reflect on your current role and performance.
    • Consider seeking feedback from peers and managers.

      2. Setting Goals

      Purpose: Setting clear and achievable goals is crucial for your development.

      Action Steps:

      • Use the SMART model to set Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound goals.
      • Write down three key development goals in the IDP template.
      • Ensure your goals align with your career aspirations.

        3. Seeking Feedback

        Purpose: Feedback from others can provide valuable insights and help you grow.

        Action Steps:

        • Regularly seek feedback from your manager and colleagues.
        • Use their input to refine your goals and strategies. 
        • Document feedback and action items in your IDP.

          4. Planning Development Activities

          Purpose: Identify activities that will help you achieve your goals.

          Action Steps:

          • Explore different types of development activities, such as on-the-job training, mentorship, and courses.
          • Allocate time for these activities in your schedule.
          • Use the 70/20/10 model: 70% on-the-job experience, 20% learning from others, and 10% formal education.

            5. Tracking Progress

            Purpose: Regularly tracking your progress keeps you on track and accountable.

            Action Steps:

            • Review your PLP regularly to monitor your progress.
            • Update your goals and activities as needed.
            • Reflect on what’s working and what isn’t, and make necessary adjustments.

              6. Reflect and Reward
