Edward Borbely, director of the Integrative Systems and Design Division (ISD) at the University of Michigan, has been appointed associate dean and executive director of professional education in the School of Engineering & Applied Science at Washington University in St. Louis effective Aug. 24, according to Dean Aaron F. Bobick.
Prior to Michigan, Borbely was director of off-campus education at Columbia University’s School of Engineering & Applied Science where he led the development and delivery of innovative graduate programs to engineers at a variety of companies, including AT&T Bell Laboratories and IBM. At Rutgers University, he directed the development of technology for off-campus programs. Borbely also served as a faculty fellow with the New Jersey Department of Higher Education, where he managed the planning, design and early implementation of a statewide telecommunications network for 53 of New Jersey’s higher education institutions.
